WIRE FRAUD IS REAL PROTECT YOURSELF!
Integrity Home Mortgage Corporation wants to notify you that we as the lender, we will not have any involvement or knowledge of where to send your wire transfers.  That information is strictly between you and your title company and/or attorney.

With that being said we want you to be aware that there are scammers who are targeting people who are currently in a loan transaction and reaching out to them via email or by phone providing them with false information of where to wire funds for closing.

The best and most effective way to prevent this from happening is making sure you are on alert and take precautions during this time.

Double check any correspondence.
Scammers are inventive and will make their emails and request for money seem identical to official correspondence.  They will try to push you into a quick response by using terms like “immediate action needed” or “respond immediately” to place a sense of urgency in the hopes of catching you off guard.

Pay close attention and if you notice difference in email addresses and domain names or if there is a sudden change to your wire transaction instructions immediately reach out to your title company and/or attorney.  Call a number you trust and speak to an individual who has been involved with your transaction.  Do not use any numbers provided by that email.

Phone calls
As you may already know, scammers can hide their phone numbers or make them show up on your caller ID as a legitimate source.  Again, do not provide information over the phone.  Hang up and contact your title company and/or attorney, talk to someone you know and have been working with to verify information.

Take Action Immediately
If you find that you have been a victim of fraud please reach out to your banking or financial institution and make them aware.  They should have protocols in place to assist you and to guide you through this ordeal.

You can also reach out to the FBI – working with the Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (www.fincen.gov) and they may assist you.
